My name is Melissa Ballacchino.
I am Imperfectly Perfect!
At 17 years old I was scouted out by a photographer in Buffalo, NY to pursue print work modeling. . I would have never thought of modeling, being that I am a whopping 5 feet tall, but because of who I am on the inside; people saw something special in me. I decided to give it a shot because I was scared of missing out on any future opportunities it could lead to.
What I learned from this experience, is that your looks can only get you so far and the importance of them has nothing to do with being beautiful on the outside. A lot of models can be labeled as pretentious, superior beings, but the real superiority that makes each of us different and special is not our looks but in our hearts. I witnessed first hand, how regardless how beautiful a model I met was, if they were ugly on the inside; their outside held no value.
Life is not about what you look like or what you do for a living; it’s about who you are as a person. Your journey in life has no substance without the gratitude you feel from having a big heart. Being a beautiful person on the inside means being there for a friend, or going out of your way to help someone out. Initiating in endearing moments in life, you can build a life of endless happiness for others and yourself.
I decided to share my story with Imperfectly Perfect because I want young girls to know that its important to be true to yourself and not give into the stereotypes of society- as to what we should look like or what we should be in out journey through life. Be YOU, and don’t change for anyone because what makes you special lies within your heart. We are all faced with pressures in life and during those times it is important to celebrate who YOU are, and do your best to turn every negative experience into a positive one.
